Dabney S. Lancaster Community College was required by the Commonwealth of Virginia to remove the former state Superintendent of Public Instruction's name from its institution. DSLCC was commissioned to review and provide to the Local Board a final list of names that are inclusive, instill a sense of pride, inspire innovative learning and collaboration, and not be derived from an individual's name. A total of over 430 names were submitted to the Task Force.

In just 14 months, 25th Hour assisted Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in successfully renaming and rebranding their institution to Mountain Gateway Community College which was approved by Virginia State Board for Community Colleges. Inclusion of the word "mountain" symbolizes the "beauty of our region and pays tribute to all of the mountains that surround our entire service area. The mountains also serve as a connecting point us. We all feel a deep connection to the mountains." A mountain is a powerful metaphor for the level of success and range of opportunities offered by the college." Our design team leveraged research and expertise to offer multiple logo and brand options for MGCC. We showcased these designs to help committees visualize MGCC's fresh creative direction facilitating a seamless implementation.

Although not required, MGCC also chose to give their athletic department a refreshed new brand with an update to their current Dabney Roadrunner’s logo and collateral. This included new logos, social media posts, posters, recruitment pieces, team swag and more.
